Scotland's Housing Expo

IOTA's latest project is a collaboration with Scotland's Housing Expo, which is taking place at Milton of Leys, 1-31 August 2010.  IOTA have commissioned Zoe Walker and Neil Bromwich, two established artists whose body of work has included live performances at Tate Britain, international residencies and exhibitions in Thailand, Australia and Europe and has been featured in numerous arts publications and television.

"We are very excited to be awarded this new commission to develop a new artwork in response to Scotland's first Housing Expo opening in Inverness in August, and we are delighted to be working with commissioning partners IOTA Inverness Old Town Art."

Zoe and Neil are currently in the process of creating The Conch Sound Studio, a mobile structure which will initially be situated in the housing expo site, but which will eventually travel to remote villages, housing estates and new age communities throughout the Highlands.

"The Conch Sound Studio aims to seek out hope and positive transformation within a growing climate of fear and an increasingly apocalyptic vision for the survival of society (and our Planet). We want it to act as a symbolic meeting point to bring people together to discuss ideas of community and survival, change and transformation in a celebration of the unique and evolving communities of the Highlands of Scotland."

You can find a link the their blog on the right and follow the progress of the build and if you have any views on community, sustainability or life in the Highlands we would love to hear from you.
