Free City Centre Screening to Celebrate Visual Art Festival Film
Abertaff Square welcomes back the team behind the Reimagining the Centre Festival this weekend with a free screening for the public, celebrating the 4 -day festival from 2009.
Last year saw more than 30 artists present unique works within the public spaces of the ‘Highland Capital.’ These included street artists in Baron Taylor Street, guerrilla knitting as well as music & artist’s projections in the Victorian Market. The Festival concluded with a visual display of work projected around Abertaff Square with live music.
This year, the square will host a 30 minute film by Norman Strachan, produced by IOTA and edited by John Hay which captures all the various artists and their work throughout the week.
On the same evening, Glasgow-based artists Sans façon will be showing their work “Limelight: Saturday night” on Church Street. The installation will see the artists replace streetlights with spotlights, creating a pool of light on the pavement and an invitation to transform the street into a stage. Over the next 16 months “Limelight: Saturday night” will travel to ten cities internationally. The reactions in the spotlight -showing the variety and similarities of street life around the world on Saturday nights- will be filmed in each city, edited and screened in host cities the following year.
The free screening at Abertaff Square starts at 9pm and “Limelight: Saturday night” will feature throughout the evening. These events have been possible through the kind support of the Ramada Group and Arts in Motion
