Exciting collaboration for Housing Expo

24 June 2010

We're extremely excited and privileged to announce the lead artists joining with IOTA on the Scottish Housing Expo 2010.

Zoe Walker and Neil Bromwich, established artists whose body of work has included live performances at Tate Britain, international residencies and exhibitions in Thailand, Australia and Europe and been featured in numerous arts publications and television, will now be working on an area of design for the housing fare.

"We are very excited to be awarded this new commission to develop a new artwork in response to Scotland's first Housing Expo opening in Inverness in August, and we are delighted to be working with commissioning partners IOTA Inverness Old Town Art.
We intend to use this opportunity to develop an ambitious new live art project ‘The Conch Sound Studio’; which aims to seek out hope and positive transformation within a growing climate of fear and an increasingly apocalyptic vision for the survival of society (and our Planet). The Conch Sound Studio is a mobile sculpture which will travel around remote villages, housing estates and New Age Communities in the highlands and act as a symbolic meeting point to bring people together to discuss ideas of community and survival, change and transformation. In a celebration of the unique and evolving communities in the Highlands of Scotland."

The project is beginning its life at the Housing Expo Site in Milton Leys on 1st August.
